DON'T BE A VICTIM TO YOUR INDUSTRY

HELLO EVERYONE,
Well where do I begin...its been a tough journey these past two years which is the total time I've been modeling! I started at the age of 21 and since this time, I've recieved soooo many No's that I've lost count. The only thing that keeps me going is FAITH and the words of a very special friend of mine. He know's who he is.

As i said before in my NBC interview last year, "I know that I'm going to get 1000 no's before I get 1 yes", and I am living proof of those words right now...two years later. Although I haven't been discovered yet, I have learned so much about the fashion industry. Believe it or not, I learn something new everyday! I enjoy learning about what to wear to castings, what to bring to fashion shows, and how to wear my hair....the basics. I feel like once I figure out all of these things and have them down to a science, then I will truly be ready. Its all about timing. There are doubts from time to time that I too struggle with at times, because Modeling is to some people just like trying to become a rapper, actor, or any other type of artist. Although I don't agree with the ideals that come before this conclusion, I can agree that just like in the rap industry, millions of men and women want to be models. When I go on castings for fashion shows, their are sooooo many people both men and women, that audition. They come in all different sizes and shapes. With the competitive nature of the industry itself and massive amounts of people that come to castings and auditions, it is a dream that some say is unattainable. The same is mythical about the Hip Hop industry. "Every black man wants to be a rapper and every girl wants to be a super-model". I hear this all the time from friends to Twitter, the most prestigious social networking tool on earth. But what surprises me is the doubt that these people have in "dreams" themselves. To think that something is simply implausible because everyone is trying to pursue it, is pure idiocy.

Now here's something to think about, models and rappers make thousands to millions and even billions of dollars a year, right? Now we all know that to make a lot of money and be successful in this world, we have to WORK at it! Work hard and you will achieve the American Dream. Sounds familiar right?? People go to school for 4 to 7 years, pursuing higher level degrees in the hopes of making more money and being financially stable or whatever the case may be. These people take classes and must learn all they can in order to earn their graduate level degrees. In all, IT IS A PROCESS. A process that takes years. And even when they earn their degree's they must go out and find a job in their area of study or market. I have met people that have Master's degree's in very lucrative areas such as healthcare, and work in a low paying job for example, a hostess. My point is that their are so many people with Master's and Ph.D's that are fighting for a spot in a company, firm, or what have you. And lets not blame it all on the recession because I'm talking graduate level degree's here. The idea is that when you obtain a graduate level degree, jobs will just fall into your lap because you now have the skills and knowledge that will enable you to work in the 'real world', but if it were that easy, The American dream wouldn't be a dream afterall. It would be the American Reality. So, to sum this section up, the way that people look for jobs in a competitive market is the same way that models, rappers, and other artist look to be discovered. See the resemblance?? The way that I learn from other models that i've met, reading and researching, is the same way that someone that takes classes for their desired major of study learns about their business and their future careers. I have yet to hear anyone in this world say that getting a degree is impossible. In fact, to hear something like that nowadays would be absurd. So, if we see the similarity, how can trying to achieve modeling or rapping on a global scale be an impossible feat? The answer is simple, nothing is IMPOSSIBLE. The only thing that is Impossible, is failure. You should think to yourself, 'IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO FAIL". THAT'S IT!!

There are so many reasons why people attend school and I'm not going to get into that. My point is that rappers, artists, and models have to put in that same effort and hard work to achieve that high paying lifestyle that the people in their industries are living today. Nothing is simply given to anyone in the world, especially money....unless of course your talking about the lottery. But, in order to be truly successful and achieve greatness, everyone, whether your a model, student, actor, or artist, you have to work hard and don't be a VICTIM of your craft. It may takes years, just like it takes for the average person to earn a Master's Degree or Ph.D, but there is time...use it wisely and never look back....Anyone can achieve their dreams and goals in life!! AND ALWAYS REMEMBER, YOU DONT HAVE TO BE GREAT TO START, BUT YOU HAVE TO START TO BE GREAT.- Zig Ziglar
